What is a digital wallet Seed Phrase?

A digital wallet seed phrase, also referred to as a secret recovery phrase, is a collection of 12-24 words that can be used to access a cryptocurrency wallet without the private keys. When you create a digital wallet, you will be given a unique seed phrase that you will be told to write down somewhere, store, etc., in case you ever lose access to your wallet.

In the event you ever lose access to your digital wallet, you will be able to recover access to that wallet with the seed phrase you wrote down. Additionally, if you lose access to your digital wallet and do not have your seed phrase written down or stored anywhere, you may not be able to access or recover the assets stored on that wallet. For this purpose, it is highly recommended you thoroughly and carefully consider how/where you store your seed phrase.

NOTE: This is a publicly accessible demo wallet (above), please do not send any crypto or NFT to it.

An additional note to make; both digital wallets and seed phrases are saved to the blockchain. Why does this matter? This means that you can access your digital wallet (stored to the blockchain) with Trust Wallet, MetaMask, etc., with the same seed phrase.

A digital wallet is almost like a "house" on the blockchain, whereas wallet applications like Trust Wallet, MetaMask, etc., function as doors to enter that house. Want to use the same digital wallet through Trust Wallet on your phone and through MetaMask on your web browser? You can do that easily by just entering the same seed phrase into both applications.

NOTE: Someone who learns your seed phrase gains access to the assets stored in that wallet. Do not, under any circumstance, give out your Seed Phrase to someone asking you. ALWAYS be skeptical of someone asking for your seed phrase. Keep your Seed Phrase secret like you would a bank pin number.
